Skills training and capacity building is an integral to every project that Jeevika Trust undertakes. To build trust within local communities and ensure sustainability it is vital that our beneficiaries have the skills and understanding to sustain projects in the longer term. Our skills training is wide-ranging from digital literacy to beekeeping and from organic farming techniques to high value mushroom cultivation and marketing. Providing training and technical expertise to support farmers in crop selection and new agricultural practices, as well as getting better access to markets and fair market prices supports the most marginalised farmer in their journey to increase their incomes and achieve sustainable livelihoods.
Empowering women farmers through the development of local farmer producer groups and self help groups (SHGs) also helps women's livelihoods. Women SHGs currently manage greenhouses, fish farming and cold storage management in our Smart Villages. Empowering villagers through our water advocacy project (WASH Project) give communities the knowledge and skills to leverage improvements in a range of health, hygiene and nutrition areas and take ownership of improvements to their communities.
