We work hard to keep our footprint and our costs in the UK to a minimum so that the project funding we raise here can maximise our impact in village India. That’s why we, as distinct from our Indian partners, have only four part-time staff (three in the UK & one in India) and two dedicated volunteers, including our Executive Director.

Andrew Redpath

Executive Director

India’s not quite in Andrew’s blood (he was 6 months old on his first visit, and stayed for 6 years), but it’s close. Years later, he started going back for business in the 1970s when India was crippled by socialism. He kept going till the Millennium, when he was lucky enough to meet Surur Hoda, his predecessor as Director of what is now called ‘Jeevika’, and to start supporting its work. And here he is, still enjoying India with all its beauty and challenges, and proud to be part of the team – whether from our UK office or in the field.

Mark Roberts

Deputy Director

30 years’ experience as a director of charities pursuing development goals my aim is to facilitate support and nurture unique projects which empower unheard voices and lift people out of poverty. My experience and specialist skills have focused on building and resourcing effective working relationships in a variety of settings from locally based partnerships in the UK to broader European and International coalitions funded by the EU, UN and other International bodies. I see my role in Jeevika as a wonderful opportunity to bring those skills and experience to bear on the challenges of endemic poverty in rural India!

Judith Crosland

Programmes Manager

It is now over 15 years since I met Surur Hoda, one of Jeevika’s three illustrious founders, and we developed a mint-farming project for women in Lucknow with one of the Big Lottery Fund’s first international grants. Today I have the pleasure of working directly with our five Indian partners and a spread of their development activities. We communicate directly on a regular basis by email and Skype and during six-monthly field visits when I monitor and evaluate development activities. I also work closely with our India Co-ordinator, Priya Anand.

Priya Anand

India Co-ordinator

Priya first started working with Jeevika in 2007 identifying potential partners for them in India. Since then, it has been an interesting and immensely fulfilling journey collaborating with our five partners in Tamil Nadu and Orissa. Priya has helped them frame and achieve holistic developmental goals that focus on livelihood and rural entrepreneurship. Priya works closely with the Jeevika team especially Judith to initiate programmes that empower rural women from disadvantaged groups and make them agents of change within their homes and communities.

Melissa Hicks

Marketing & Communications Manager

Melissa joined Jeevika Trust in June 2016 as their Marketing & Communications Manager. Melissa has worked in Marketing for nearly 15 years and has a wealth of experience in all areas of the marketing mix. Having previously worked for a large Global Insurance company, Melissa is loving the challenge of working in the charity sector and helping to make a difference to the people in Rural India who need it most.

Jeevika is governed by a diverse team of dedicated Trustees who give their time, knowledge and skills freely to support our work in India.
