Our Projects
Village livelihood projects are the core of Jeevika Trust's mission to touch lives in rural India. We do not have Jeevika Trust personnel based in India, but depend on our main partner Schumacher Centre for Development, and where appropriate other chosen grassroots NGO partners to work directly with selected marginalised groups of villagers.
We look at the whole process of researching their key needs, developing plans and budgets with our partners for them to implement, securing funding wherever possible, then monitoring progress through visits and continuous contact and making sure that lessons are learned by everyone involved and sustainable results are achieved.
Our own experience, commitment and values with our partners' knowledge and field-work have proved an effective combination.
The projects we support are located in several parts of India, ranging from Uttarakhand in the extreme north to Tamil Nadu in the far south. Even more advanced states like Tamil Nadu, there is still rural poverty on a huge scale; Orissa on the other hand, where SCD has built strong links with government services, local NGO networks and forest communities, among the most least developed states in India.
