Jeevika Trust invites you to come and...

Walk for Water 2011

Sunday 25th September

Our annual sponsored walk is here again. Join us on Sunday 25th September at 2pm to raise money to raise money to support our water projects in India. A beautiful route through Bushy Park, past Hampton Court Palace and along the Thames ending up with tea in a private garden on the river.

Everything you raise will go to supporting our water projects in India - this vitally needed work helps women just like Karuppi, many of whom have to walk up to 6 miles a day to collect safe water - read her story here.

Registering your place and details for the Walk day
For full details about the walk, download our Information pack.  Now that we are quite close to the event, please download your registration form and bring it with you to the Walk. Details about where to meet, how to collect your sponsorship and much much more can be found in our Walkers pack.

Collecting your Sponsorship

Since Jeevika Trust relies entirely on voluntary donations to raise the minimum of £100,000 we need each year to keep our projects on the road, every penny really does make a difference!

Collecting your sponsorship money is really easy. You can download a sponsorship form from here or set up your own fundraising webpage by clicking on the link below.

Create a fundraising page

We encourage all walkers to raise at least £50 sponsorship for this event, but don't stop there! The more money you raise, the more your efforts will help to change the lives of women, their families and their communities across rural India.

£50 could... cover the cost of training, equipment and seeds for one woman to establish a kitchen garden to grow vegetables. This will help keep her family healthy and allow her to earn extra money from selling any extra vegetables.

£300 could… organise a Health & Hygiene Awareness Campaign to reach 2,000 villagers to help them better understand how to prevent water-borne diseases, like gastro-enteritis and diarrhoea which are responsible for a large numbers of deaths amongst children and the elderly.

£1,200 could... enable a rainwater harvesting system to be built on a school roof to provide clean water for drinking and better hygiene & sanitation facilities, encouraging more students, particularly girls, to attend school benefiting up to 250 students and their teachers.

Every participant reaching (or exceeding!) £300 by the end of October 2011 will be entered into a prize draw.

Make your fundraising go even further:
• Check if your company offers a matched funding scheme, you may be able to get a donation from your employer to double the amount you raise!
• Consider organising some extra fundraising activity e.g. a fundraising lunch at work or a car boot sale, and watch the £'s come in!
• Encourage your sponsors to gift aid their donation (if they are UK tax payers) – this means that Jeevika Trust will be able to claim an extra 25p for every £1 from the Inland revenue!
