Making a difference on your big day
Your support can make a real difference to the lives of the women, their families and communities that we support across rural India. Here are some examples of how your support can help:
£5 could... buy a fruit tree which will be given to a village school for pupils to look after and share its fruit.
£15 could... provide a woman and her family with a wooden beehive frame plus one sheet of wax to help bees ‘make honey’ providing nutrition and an extra income.
£30 could... buy a sewing machine for one woman so that she can provide clothing for her growing children and other members of her family. Once her own family needs are met she can make and sell clothing within her village. £300 will enable 10 women to have sewing machines and form a Self-Help Group (SHG) with the opportunity to benefit from microcredit savings and loans to expand their activities.
£50 could... cover the cost of training, equipment and seeds for one woman to establish a kitchen garden to grow vegetables to boost household consumption with the support of a vermicompost pit using worms and organic waste. This activity boosts the nutritional health of her family and allows her to contribute to household income from sales of any surplus vegetables.
