How your money helps

Without your support we could not make any of our projects happen.  Here is how your money helps…

£5 will buy a fruit tree which will be provided to a village school for pupils to tend and for them to share in its produce.

£30 will buy a sewing machine for a woman so that she can provide clothing for her growing children and other members of her family.  Once her own family needs are met she can make and sell clothing within her village.

£45 will cover the cost of all beekeeping equipment necessary for one woman to generate income for her family through honey-production.  The equipment will include a bee hive, hive frames and wax, a bee colony, tools and protective clothing.

£100 buys 3 training sessions to enable one Self-Help Group of 12-14 women villagers to make the most of their gift of bees or goats.  It supports their activities with the knowledge and skills they need to maximise the resources available to them.  In this way training enables marginalised women to take control of their life.

£125 buys three she-goats + one buck.  £25 buys one she-goat.  Goats provide a rich source of milk, producing up to three pints per day and provide a source of manure to treble vegetable crops.  As a result, the health of families is vastly improved and the goat kids can be sold to generate income.

£1,000 will provide 3 awareness-raising camps - open-air group meetings to which all villagers are invited to improve understanding of health and hygiene, and environmental and human rights issues.  Experience demonstrates that awareness-raising camps result in improved health and attitudes of villagers towards the environment and gender equality within their communities.

£2,500 will pay for a reproductive and child health initiative to be set up which will benefit women and children and other family members in four villages over a two-year period with long term benefits for all participants.

£3,500 will enable 10 Self-Help Groups to generate income through beekeeping, goat-rearing, mint-farming or bamboo basket-making.  This will include all training, equipment and other resources required for up to 100 marginalised women to improve the quality of family life.

Thank you for your support.
